Thank You Baby

Dad’s do it best! 😉

If you were to ask me 3 years ago before ever having children if I was ready to be a father, I would probably say no. Thinking about bringing life into this world and the little to no experience I have in that field, was it really something I was prepared for? Could I even prepare myself to be a dad? How? My wife and I had been together for so many years. High school sweet hearts in fact, but I am not sure if it counts because we both went to different high schools… Maybe that was a good thing to give us good space ha-ha. By the time we had Emily in 2013 we had already been together for a number a years, so prior to her birth the topic of children came up quite a few times. A topic I would avoid and brush off most of the time. “Can we talk about this later!?” “I don’t want to talk about this right now.” Yup, that sounds about right. Those questions were always running through my mind and just being a recent graduate of college and still living with my parents the main thought I had was – am I ready to be a father?

When it all comes down to it, is being a parent something you can totally be prepared for? In my opinion no. You can always have tips, advice and best practices but until it actually happens you can never prepare for the experience. The best experience. Being a parent and being a father has honestly been the best thing that has ever happened to me. Cliché to say I know, but it is so true because I have the experience. With Father’s Day just passing, I am one who prides himself on being a dad. a fun and motivated dad! I think it is awesome to have a day where we recognize all the efforts dads across the world put in to be the best possible figure in their children’s lives. A day of reflection and recognition, because just like moms, dads are dads 24 hours, 7 days a week 365 days of the year! Every day is Father’s Day.

I had recently had the opportunity to be apart of my 1st twitter party in celebration of Father’s Day brought to life by our amazing partner Pampers. I must say, what a WONDERFUL experience. It was well organized, and full of participation surrounding the topic of dads and their babies. It was truly inspiring to see all the different answers to each of the asked questions and one thing I did note is that no dad is the same! We all have the unique title of being a father but how awesome is it to see all of the different moments we each hold dear to our hearts. From different family traditions to the way we celebrate, fatherhood between us is a true bond that cannot be broken between us fellow dads!

In this time of reflection and celebration of this yearly tradition, to celebrate dads across the globe allows me to understand how truly blessed and thankful I am. Being a parent is no easy task and comes with endless amounts of work, frustrating times and of course the long hours. But it is totally worth it! To appreciate the smaller things in life and to really see that copious amounts of happiness are literally within reach at all times. From their first cry, first laugh first smile, first cuddle, first words, first steps and endless list of precious moments that give us unforgettable memories. Thank you baby.

To all the dads!
